Makati Science places sixth in NAT in NCR

TRUE TO ITS mission, the Makati Science High School continues to produce students who are creative and critical thinkers, holistic and life-long learners, gender-sensitive individuals, responsible leaders and achievers, zealous information and communication technology advocates, academically competent graduates, and globally competitive citizens.

With a mean percentage score (MPS) of 72.67, the Makati Science ranked sixth in the National Capital Region after topping the 2007, the 2006, and the 2005 National Achievement Test (NAT), garnering 79.84 MPS in mathematics, 78.30, social studies; 78.08, English; 68.58, science and technology; and 59.29, Filipino.

Based on the 2007 Division of City Schools of Makati Secondary School Report Card, the Makati Science was the only public secondary school in the city that performed above the 70 MPS target.

The Pitogo High School (PHS), the San Isidro National High School (SINHS), and the Benigno “Ninoy” Aquino High School (BNAHS) shared the same bracket as schools that performed within the 70 MPS target.

Falling further behind these two groups are the Makati High School (MHS), Bangkal High School (BHS), Fort Bonifacio High School (FBHS), San Antonio National High School (SANHS), and the General Pio del Pilar National High School (GPNHS) with their performances below the 70 MPS target.

Meanwhile, in terms of secondary survival and completion rates, the GPNHS joins the Makati Science as schools with performance above the division average and attained the target.

The MHS, the SINHS, and the BNAHS are catching up as they compose the schools with improving performances but lower than the division average and short of the target.

The FBHS loses its momentum as its performance was above the division average in earlier years but declined in later years.

The SANHS holds the lone fate as a school with performance below the division average in the earlier years and continues to decline in 2007.

In the graduation rate of Makati public schools, schools with performance above the division average and attained the targets include the FBHS, the SINHS, and the Makati Science.

The BHS, MHS, PHS, and the BNAHS, on the other hand, were short in their targets, but still continue to increase their graduation rates.

The GPNHS and the SANHS are the schools with performance above the division target in earlier years but declined in later years.
